Leading Victorian trainer Darren Weir will launch a multi-pronged attack in the feature race after confirming four of his stable stars in the 2016 Ballarat Cup field, including Taiyoo and Lidari.

Taiyoo has produced a number of smart efforts and results for Weir this year and will carry winning form into the Ballarat Cup.

Returning to competitive form with a hard-fought third in the talent-rich Chandler Macleod Handicap (2040m), the Haradasun gelding returned to winning form in the Kyneton Cup (2000m) last time out on November 2nd.

Lidari has experienced an ideal lead-in to the Ballarat Cup 2016 and should lay a great account for himself in the race, despite drawing the wide and reasonably awkward barrier 15.

Resuming for tenth in the Listed Paris Lane Handicap (1400m), the Acclamation entire ran a close second to The United States in the Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m) second-up on October 22nd.

Luckless when ninth in the Listed James Boag’s Premium Stakes (1800m) on Melbourne Cup Day, Lidari charged home for third in the Group 3 Eclipse Stakes (1800m) at Ladbrokes Park last weekend and will appreciate a step up in distance this weekend.

Turnitaround claimed a career-best victory in the Eclipse Stakes last weekend and has also been confirmed in the 2016 Ballarat Cup field by trainer Matt Williams.

Resuming for third in the Group 3 Moonga Stakes (1400m) behind Voodoo Lad and Takedown, Turnitaround failed to fire in the Premium Stakes but clearly enjoyed a step up in distance last weekend.

Blake Shinn has retained the ride on the six-year-old in the Ballarat Cup, who has been charged with overcoming a race-high 60kgs.

Rising Romance has produced something of an inconsistent spring campaign so far, but will leave from the rails draw on Saturday after being confirmed in the Ballarat Cup field.

Running second to Black Heart Bart in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) first-up, the Ekraar mare finished mid-pack in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) before running on for fourth in the Group 2 Stocks Stakes (1600m).

Failing to beat a single runner home in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) on Derby Day, Rising Romance was luckless in the Group 2 Matriarch Stakes (2000m) a fortnight ago, but managed to run on in the late stages of the race to finish eighth.
