Talented gelding Mujadale has continued his impressive run through the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival this weekend, leading from start to finish to record and exceptionally brave victory in the Listed Ballarat Cup (2200m).

Jumping from the gates well, veteran jockey Kevin Forrester lead the Mujahid gelding immediately to the fore of the pack; setting a noticeably quick tempo past the post the first time and rounding onto  the back straight.

Continuing to box on at the front of the pack, Mujadale at one stage pulled out to be eight lengths clear of his closest rival, but was reeled back in to sit around two lengths ahead rounding onto the final straight.

Kicking well, Mujadale incredibly maintained distance between himself and his rivals, again extending to find the line close to four lengths in the clear of At First Sight; topweight Fat Al running on for third.

Trainer Paul Jones was understandably thrilled with Mujadale’s performance for victory in the 2014 Ballarat Cup and was quick to praise the fortitude of the seven-year-old immediately after the race.

“He’s probably a bit more mature physically as well as mentally now, so he just handles race day better; hopefully he’ll keep ticking over and win a few more,” Jones said.

“Looking at it from where I was, you had your heart in your mouth but he’s just so brave and he sort of runs a little bit on adrenaline and when they let him roll he just likes it and I’ve said once before that he is a bit like Forest Gump; the more he runs the more he wants to run, he enjoys it.”

Forrester delivered a sensational ride on Mujadale in the 2014 Ballarat Cup and was thrilled to pick up the feature race at his local track.

“It’s a very easy track to ride and it’s great to be home to win the Cup; I was born here, I cut my teeth here and it’s nice to get a winner,” Forrester said.

“You have to travel to get experience and you’ve got to ride for the best trainers and that’s the only way to grow in the sport because jockeys and horses jump on planes and go all over the place now and I think you have to chase the horses.

“The horse wouldn’t get going until the last furlong, he is very lazy but he had his own way down back and I just rated him and went a nice tempo and it was virtually like a working gallop down the back.”

Punters who backed Mujadale to secure a tenth career win in the 2014 Ballarat Cup with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au have been paid out on generous $11 odds!
